Well here are some very nice pictures of some decking
These are not my decking but will give you some ideas as to what you can achieve in your garden .
A little planning is needed to make sure you have the one of your dreams and it must be big enough for it's purpose otherwise you will not be happy with the finished project then again you can add but it's much easier to do it right in the first place it will cost you less and will save you time in the long run ,Planning that's the key to it

Why put Decking down in the first place ,because I think it adds a nice feature to the garden and it has a feel of being cosy in the garden for all your family friends to get together for a barbeque maybe or just a place to sit and have a chat,
Well you can do just about any shape you like with your Decking ,But as I found out the boards going in a different direction can add more cross pieces to be added
Know the law
Well can you put decking in your garden,Is it your garden
It may look daft but if it isn't you property and you spend a few bob on your decking and then your landlord says hey what you done to my garden .Please put it back the way it was or I will send you the bill ahh.
Another thing to look out for is your water pipes sewage and anything else that may be lurking under the soil or flags you don't want to find you cant turn off the water if you have a flood do you.
You may have to move that expensive gate you had fitted if you make the floor higher,And what about all the weeds that are going to come up between the decking boards,I used a special sheet that lets water through but doesn't let weeds grow .Are you going to have any eclectic with your decking cos you will be better doing some wiring before you have laid it all I have my wiring going through a waterproof pipe A couple of waterproof plugs in case I need some electric to plug my hi if or my laptop to when im lazing around my decking.

Do you have the drawing skills to make your project look ok
I didn't do this myself I just daydreamed the idea and then put it to paper,But a far better way is to log on to diy and you can download a map of squares to a scale you can then design you decking and work out how much you need plenty of sites available for you to get the price of your decking boards and any other wood you may need.
Don't forget the electrical wiring and the plugs not just ordinary plugs for your garden must be waterproof for obvious reasons.Plenty of sites for lighting I have a spotlight that comes on when it is dark if someone enters a area that I have set it up to I have also some lights to fit to the posts just as a added light if we are on the decking in the dark because some of you wild parties may go on into the early hours .

Some planning before you get going.
As you see from the picture above you could do with laying a material that allows water through but not weed,otherwise your going to be spraying weed killer between the Decking which would be a waste of time.
A two seater in the corner again I bought this from a place in the countryside after visiting a little village where they filmed where the heart is we was on our way home and saw this garden centre had a look around and took this home with us ,I think I paid £120 for it but it is good thick wood and yes it has been treated from the firm that made it and then again from me just in case.
Well it's going to cost a few bob,but you already new that .
First thing to do is take a look at how much space you have to play with I decided on half my garden .
The reason for this was I didn't like to much gardening anyway weeding and all that not for me nor my Sheila.
Low maintenance just some cleaner now and then ,Wood preserve now and then and that's it.
What can you afford way up the cost for two different decks I mean take some measurements and do a drawing to the shape and how many levels,I have three levels ,One comes from the side door of my Conservatory then it goes up three steps onto the largest area walk along a little and down two steps to the lawn area which is higher than the first stage. When you have a couple of drawings you can go find out how much it will be then decide on which suits the pocket best,remember you can always add later on ,So off you go get the base timber the decking boards and the gravel and the sand and cement O yes you need to dig a few holes to build you base ,You can use bolts to fix to your floor but I think it is much better to cement it in then your cross pieces will be a lot sturdier especially if you are going up a few levels.
It is still nice to have some plants
Well have some plants for colour
A few plants around the decking adds a little colour to it we have a few pots scattered around with nice bright colours ,The thing about pots is as long as you use fresh soil potting compost you should be weed free which is what its all about
My son has built his decking with a pond in the middle sunk into the decking it looks very nice ,He built my decking by the way and so has had plenty of practice re doing his until he got the desired affect.

You can just make out my Sheila in the conservatory watching TV but im going to run a cable to outside for nice days I have already run the power to a box with a plug and some lighting so as when you walk up the steps the lights come on .,Not forgetting that you have special outside plugs and switches for your decking a little dearer but you have to have this.
